Larry Dean Madrid

Larry D. Madrid, 60, passed away unexpectedly June 18, 2021 in Lakeland, Florida. He was born June 29, 1960 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s in civil engineering and a master’s in geotechnical engineering. He was President of Madrid CPWG, Inc. Larry was a professional engineer, an ASCE Fellow, a Diplomate of Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE) and a past president of the Bartow Chamber of Commerce.
Larry was a follower of Jesus Christ, and loved the Lord, his family, his church and his many friends and business colleagues. He was greatly respected in both the engineering field and the local business community. Larry was just as much an artist (music and photography) as an engineer. He served as the worship leader and choir director at Fellowship Baptist Church for over thirty years. He played guitar, wrote numerous songs and loved to sing, both for the Lord and at community events. His rendition of The Star Spangled Banner was awesome.
Larry is survived by his wife of almost forty years, Connie, sons Andrew (Chelsea), Phillip (Danae), Daniel (Kathryn), three grandchildren who were his delight, brothers Thomas Madrid (Christine), J.D. and sister Patricia Lambert (Edward), and many nieces and nephews.
There will be visiting with the family on June 25th from 7-9 pm. The celebration of life will be 9:30AM on June 26th. Both are at Fellowship Baptist Church, 4625 Cleveland Heights Blvd., Lakeland.
One of the engineering projects that Larry was most proud of was the design-build of a soccer field at a Christian camp in Mexico.
