She is survived by her sister, Dora Yeater, Her sister-in-law, Barbara Ralston, and her children: Brenda Raj (Arun), Brian Orndorff, Sandra Armuth (Joel), and Timothy Orndorff (Elvie). Grandchildren: Sterling Adlakha (Jenny), Sheldon Adlakha, Oliver Raj (Abigail), Anjali Raj, Benjamin Armuth, Abigail Quann (Benjamin), Hannah Alford (Travis), Kevin Orndorff (Olivia), Nicole Dumene (Richard), and Diana Orndorff. Great-Grandchildren: Alec Adlakha, Kai Adlakha, Hailey Adlakha, and Luke Hephner.

Nita was born in Lockport, Louisiana, sixth of 7 sisters, in Cajun country; and her first language was French. She traveled by pirogue to school or to buy milk. Every year her dad, uncles and their families took off in the Winter to trap fur in the Bayous, and they were home-schooled by women of the family. Even so, she graduated as high school Valedictorian in Lockport and many of her sisters did as well. She left for Virginia to take care of her nephew, Ken, and there she met Raymond in Arlington, VA and married him and had 4 children. She worked a secretary for the Navy before the children were born, and then as Secretary to the Assistant Secretary to the Interior for the Bureau of Land Management. Even though she only attended a few college courses, she edited every child and grandchild’s high school, college and grad school paper when asked, and after retirement. She and Raymond finally retired in Orange, VA. Nita and Raymond were active in their churches in Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA and Oak Chapel Baptist in Orange, VA. She later went to live in Ashland with daughter, Sandra, and then in Sun City, Florida, near daughter and son, Brenda and Brian. Unfortunately, she was stricken with Alzheimer’s Disease, and later passed away from it.
