Phyllis K Clapper

Phyllis Kay Clapper, 90, of Lakeland, passed away on January 20, 2023, in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born in Eaton Rapids, MI on February 23, 1932 to the late Clifford and Carrie Clapper.

Phyllis attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO where she became an Assembly of God Minister. She went on and received a teaching degree from Michigan State University. Phyllis worked for many Deaf ministries during her time in Missouri and Michigan, and continued her work when she moved to Florida.

Phyllis taught at Southwest Middle School, then at Lakeland High School where she helped to mainstream and run the Deaf program for a total of 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ester Moore, Judson Clapper, and Madonna Rolfe; nephew Harold Moore; nieces Charlene Moyer and Linda Rolfe.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Bethany Garrett; nephews, Alan Clapper and Tom Moore; nieces, Laura Howe and Jerri Mastron; and many grand nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

Visitation from 10 AM - 11 AM, service at 11 AM.
